Ceiling soundproofing is a simple process with Rast Interiors. It is often necessary to block noise and minimize footstep impact noise, so soundproofing material selection is critical. Many materials are intended for one aspect, but not both. Some possible materials may not solve the soundproofing problem at all, depending on your special conditions.
Green Glue Dampening Compound
Green Glue Dampening Compound is used for soundproofing walls, floors and ceilings. Green Glue is used between two sheets of sheetrock or any other porous, rigid building material. Noiseproofing Acoustical Sealant
Noiseproofing Acoustical Sealant is a water-based sealant designed to minimize sound transmission through walls and partition systems. The main function of a Noiseproofing Acoustical Sealan is to achieve and maintain the specific Sound Transmission Class, or STC, value of the system design. QuietClips greatly improve the STC and IIC for any wall, floor or ceiling soundproofing system. Mass Loaded Vinyl
MLV, or Mass Loaded Vinyl, is accepted as the most common soundproofing product on the market. MLV is well suited for soundproofing walls and ceiling. Sealtight Putty Pads
Sound can easily penetrate electrical outlets. The solution is Sealtight Putty Pads. The pads should be installed on external surfaces of metallic and non-metallic electrical outlet boxes. They are applied to the back surface of the box, as well as the three sides that are away from the stud (as picutred) to reduce sound that travels through the electrical box cutout in a wall. Privacy Recessed Downlight Covers
Privacy Recessed Downlight Covers and the solution to maintain the fire rating of a ceiling assembly. Penetrations in ceiling such as recessed lighting, speaker systems and HVAC diffusers must be protected. Typically fire rated ceiling tile material is used to field fabricate enclosures for ceiling light fixture penetrations. Noisy pipes, ducts and valves can be address with a special composite soundproofing material made of flexible, reinforced foil-faced loaded vinyl noise barrier bonded to a one inch thick quilted fiberglass sound absorber.
